I am beyond excited and honored for this event! May 18th is Go Topless Day and no better way to celebrate than this!
1st - Selmer TN was just elected to have the TN Permanent Fallen Officers Memorial Wall. 740. 740 Officers have been killed in TN in the line of duty. No memorial has ever been built - until now. Selmer has been chosen to have a Memorial Wall built in front of the Justice Complex. That wall will have all 740 names etched and will be a permanent memorial for all of TN. The wall will have all 740 names on the front. Unfortunately the back side will be blank for future names to be added.
2nd - 45 South was asked to help with the Ground Breaking Ceremony on May 18. This will be a community event with a 5k and car show and other activities but we have been asked to host a memorial ride. So to go along with Go Topless Day, 45 South will do a Memorial Day Ride leaving from the justice center. It will travel backroads to Shiloh National Park. It will loop thru all of Shiloh with a couple of stops to take in the sights. Then make its way back to the justice center to close out the ground breaking.
But we do not want this to be a 45 South Event. Every club can do great things on their own. But what if we pulled together as an offroad community? What if we all came together on Go Topless Day and rode with a purpose. Decals and Banners dont matter. Mud or rock or pavement doesnt matter. What if for one day we came together and paid respect to the 740 officers killed in the line of duty? Just imagine what a sight that would be! So we are inviting all clubs that dont have plans for Go Topless Day to join us!
This wall is a huge dedication to our fallen officers. Offroad clubs have and will always Back the Blue. McNairy County Sheriff's Dept will be helping block for our route.
This project is not cheap! They are estimating a cost of over $100,000 minimum. And of course grants only go so far. The rest will fall on the communities to pay. Our Go Topless Day Memorial Ride will help! The cost is $20 per rig. and 100% will go directly to the Memorial Wall. Registration begins at 9 am and ride will leave out approximately at 10 am with return time between 1 and 130 pm.
This is a huge honor for us! And such a special tribute to the officers that has been killed protecting each of us! Join us for this special day of remembrance and to enjoy Go Topless Day - as one offroad family!
