Open: Year Round
The term "longboard" is intimately familiar to anyone who has surfed, or has even watching a surfing competition. It refers to a particular type of board, but you don't have to know any of this to come to the lovely Sonoma County country town of Healdsburg and enjoy their selection of wines. But still, a little background about the name, and how surfing met wine, might be in order.
Today, the wines bearing the Longboard label (which has, of course, a classic board in a place of prominence) include a Russian River Valley Syrah (plus one from the Dakine Vineyard and another from the North Coast), outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon, a Merlot, a Pinot Noir that also uses Russian River Valley fruit, an Alexander Valley Carignan, a refreshing Sauvignon Blanc, and to finish it all off, their rare and rich Late Harvest Semillon. The Longboard Vineyards tasting room (complete with the surfboards) is open Wednesday through Monday.
