American photographer and filmmaker Christopher Felver has photographed celebrated writers, artists, musicians & influencers! His distinctive visual signature is a lasting contribution to the legacy of our national cultural community. Felver's films & photographs read like a roster of American avant-garde and his work has been exhibited nationally and internationally over the past 50 years.

Douglas Sandberg's work is inventive and shows little preconception. He exhibits the essence of raw emotion and feeling with every brush stroke.

The exhibition features selections from Felver's award winning photography, books & films, with Sandberg's paintings and film.

4:30-6:30pm: POETS, REFLECTIONS & FILMS: A BEAT GENERATION HAPPENING

Chris Felver & L. Neeli Cherkovski provide insight and discussion of this literary subculture movement started by a group of authors whose work explored and influenced American culture and politics in the post-World War II era.

Born in Santa Monica, California, Cherkovski grew up in San Bernardino, California. In the 1970s he was a political consultant in the Riverside area, who came to San Francisco to work on the staff of then-State Senator George Moscone. Cherkovski has written biographies of Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and Charles Bukowski, with whom he co-edited the Los Angeles zine Laugh Literary and Man the Humping Guns. Cherkovski produced the first San Francisco Poetry Festival, and in the early-1990s helped to found Café Arts Month, a yearly event celebrating San Francisco's café culture.
