In the late 2000’s, the Lyman Allyn Museum mounted a one-man show for the Bulgarian master, Stoimen Stoilov. The exhibition was filmed and Bulgaria’s Vice President, Todor Kavaldzhiev came with his retinue to open the exhibition.

Since then, Stoilov has show his work at numerous galleries in the New London area, including the Slater Memorial Museum, the Norwich Arts Council, the Alva Gallery, York Square Cinema Gallery, the Hygienic Gallery, and the Branford Art Gallery among others.

Stoimen has contributed to community life in New London on several important occasions.

He created images to illustrate the poem by William Meredith's poem titled, “The Wreck of the Thresher.” This became a broadside which was sponsored by the Dominion power company and the Disabled American Veterans. This broadside was sent to all 128 family members of those lost at sea in that disaster.

A formal memorial was created and placed in city hall at the invitation of Mayor Passero. An installation ceremony was held on April 29, 2023 including many military leaders, Ct College faculty, the Poet Laureate of Connecticut and other important members of the community. Congressman Courtney sent a beautiful letter of congratulations which was included in the program for that event created by the Griffith art foundation.

Stoilov is truly a word-class artist. Winner of many international honors, including being named Professor by the Government of Austria where he lives part of the year with his daughter (who is acting as his care giver during recent serious medical challenges.) One of Stoimen's works was chosen to represent Bulgaria at the United Nations, for example. His international awards are myriad.
