“Illuminate: A Captivating Exploration of Light in Art”, an exhibition featuring illuminated works of art by multiple valley artists, is coming to a close with a special “dark” reception. On Saturday, April 12, The Monastery, Peoria’s newest artist-owned gallery and creative space located at 8301 W. Washington St., will celebrate the closing of its inaugural exhibition with a reception from 6-8 p.m. during which the studio space will go dark, further illuminating the amazing masterpieces within the exhibition.
“Illuminate: A Captivating Exploration of Light in Art” features the works of famed artists Kevin Caron, Larry Ortega, Gaylen Stewart and Ceri Jones Tretter. While on display, the exhibition encouraged viewers to experience light in a way that goes beyond illumination through the eyes of these artists whose works harness the power of light to alter perceptions, create ambiance and captivate the senses.
Each of the artists will be in attendance during the closing reception, which coincides with the city of Peoria’s Second Saturday, a monthly music and art festival taking place on the second Saturday of each month. Admission is free and open to the public.
