In this 60-minute, one-woman show, Susan Jeremy portrays 15 characters, reliving the humiliating experience of getting fired from nearly every job she ever had. From a roller-skating, cigarette seller-to an usher at Radio City Music Hall-to a substitute teacher, the protagonist gets the boot-she is ‘shown the door!’ The audience rides the emotional wave of Jeremy’s humiliation, simultaneously laughing at the absurd reasons given for the job firings. After Susan loses her job working as a clown at a kid’s party, she realizes, “There is nowhere to go but stand-up comedy.” But ultimately Susan gives up her dream; she steps away from the world of show business. It is only then she discovers her self-worth.
