Copperfield's Books is proud to partner with Random House Publishing Group and PEN America to present internationally renowned writer, free speech advocate, and Booker Prize winner Salman Rushdie in conversation with Suleika Jaouad, the New York Times bestselling author of Between Two Kingdoms, founder of The Isolation Journals, and subject of the Netflix documentary American Symphony.

Rushdie's new memoir, Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder, is a gripping account of surviving an attempt on his life 30 years after the fatwa was ordered against him. In unforgettable detail, Rushdie is speaking out for the first time about the traumatic events of August 12, 2022.

Join us on Tuesday, April 16 at 5 p.m. PST on Vimeo for an intimate conversation as they discuss life, loss, love, the power of art, and finding the strength to keep going-and stand up again. The event will feature an audience Q and A and a closing note from PEN America. You will have the opportunity to submit a question when registering for the event and may see it answered during the conversation. Please submit your questions no later than March 25. Suleika Jaouad is an American writer, advocate, and motivational speaker. She is the author of the "Life, Interrupted" column in The New York Times and has also written for Vogue, Glamour, NPR's All Things Considered and Women's Health. Her 2021 memoir Between Two Kingdoms was a New York Times Best Seller.
