Studio 114, Casket Arts Building | On View Through September 30
This month at Showcase 114 – le mur bleu, we invite you into a space of quiet reflection, empathy, and transformation. Held each Second Saturday in Studio 114, this pop-up exhibit series highlights artists whose work resonates visually and emotionally.
We are honored to feature the intricate and powerful work of Laine Swanson, a Twin Cities artist whose art invites us to contemplate the delicate intersections of life, pain, and healing.
Laine’s work explores time, structure, and the human form through a lens shaped by her personal experience with chronic pain and her values of empathy, inclusivity, and equality. Her art, at once bold and delicate, fuses technical anatomical precision with profound emotional resonance.
“Each piece creates space to reflect on life, death, and the human experience while inviting acceptance of what is and longing for what was.”
Recognized by the medical community for her anatomical accuracy, Laine’s work transcends its subject matter to question the nature of existence. Her intricate details draw viewers in, revealing layers that speak to both personal vulnerability and universal truths.
Laine’s art has built genuine connections between herself and her patrons, and across communities throughout the Twin Cities. From collaborations with doctors to advocacy for gender equality and reproductive freedom, her practice reflects both skill and purpose.
