Join us at The Savoy Denver for a Nutcracker unlike any other. Explore the halls and hidden staircases of the Savoy as we unfold the history of the iconic Denver neighborhood. Captivating choreography with a unique blend of ballet, swing, breakdance, contemporary, movement, and shadow puppetry inspired by the Jazz Age and set to the innovative 1960 score by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn.
Audiences will be drawn into the tales of 5 Points’ remarkable past as Larea Edwards reimagines classic Nutcracker characters with parallels to real-life local legends, portraying a narrative enriched by the African-American experience. The Tenia Nelson Band infuses every note with the spirit of jazz, accompanied by the Boulder Philharmonic to create an unforgettable soundscape.
