Five young Christian evangelicals in a church basement in Idaho Falls are preparing themselves for a mission to the Middle East. One of them, Josh, is reeling after the death of his father, and has bought a one-way ticket with no plans to return. But when his estranged sister returns to Idaho Falls to stop him, the choice to leave becomes more complicated. Samuel Hunter’s The Harvest is a gripping, emotionally nuanced exploration of faith, family, and identity that asks us to open our hearts and minds to the mystery of what it is to be human.
