From 1901 to the mid- 1940s, Harry C. Ostrander traveled the globe, photographing far-away places, and reproducing the images on hand-painted glass slides. He was one of several famous providers of "travelogs" who criss-crossed the United States sharing photos and stories with audiences in museums, schools, churches, and social clubs. He spoke in Cortland County while visiting his sister in Homer, and he is buried in Glenwood Cemetery. His family has recreated his 1901 trip down the Nile River, using digitized images from his own hand-painted glass slides and his own words from newspaper travel articles. Come and share a journey down the Nile River in a pre-cinema, pre-television and pre-internet era; when people learned about the world from photos and stories of traveling story tellers. Presenter Gail Bundy is the great niece of Harry Ostrander.
