“The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter—it’s the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.” -Mark Twain

Angela Flournoy’s The Wilderness follows five Black women—Desiree, Danielle, January, Monique, and Nakia—over two transformative decades as they navigate the messy, often contradictory demands of adulthood, family, ambition, and friendship. Set between New York and Los Angeles from the late 2000s through the 2020s, this much-anticipated second novel from the National Book Award finalist is a sharp, vibrant portrait of connection and change in an increasingly unstable world.

We are offering ticket + book bundles for $40 and $10 single tickets. Books are available for purchase in our museum store, and the author will sign copies following the discussion.
