Turgidity 89% is a series of large scale forced air inflatables. These forms are brightly colored and resemble weird fruits or invertebrates on a coral reef. The Wild Aesthetic inflatables were initially inspired by the endemic flora of Socotra Island and have since evolved into bold extrusions and phalanges. The inflatables all exceed six feet in height and some are as tall as twenty-two feet. Lit internally via LED lights, these forms glow and appear slightly “unreal” in photography. Displayed as a group, the inflatables’ bright colors and immense scale offers the viewer a transformative experience by immersing them in an alien landscape.
