November 11 to mark commemoration of Veterans Day
9AM Set to Salute Town's Veterans
The commemoration of Veterans Day in North Kingstown will start at 9AM, Monday, November 11 at Veterans Memorial Park which sits across the way from the Town Hall located at 80 Boston Neck Road. This will include presentation of the colors and the placing of a floral wreath by the bronze marker that gives name to the site.
Parade Kick Off at 10AM
The annual parade will start at 10AM. The route follows the lengths of West Main, Brown Streets through Wickford village southwards to Boston Neck Road to Fairway Drive to North Kingstown High School for the concluding ceremonies which are expected to begin at 11AM. The ceremonies will include a vocal performance, a keynote address, consecutive bell strikes to signify "the 11th hour, the 11th day, the 11th month" along with the bugle call "Taps".
Bring Your Pet to The Parade
North Kingstown Parades Committee member John Fitzgerald invites one and all to bring their pets to join him at Wilson Park to form a special unit, "The Dogs of Wickford". John has spearheaded this group for some years and welcomes area residents to join him in this longtime practice.
Notice: In case of inclement weather, the 9AM plans for Veterans Memorial Park will still go forward. The 11AM ceremonies will be moved to the World War Memorial at Updike Park in Wickford village.
