The Chickasaw Visitor Center is located at the corner of Broadway and S.H. 7 in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Designed to provide information and tell the story of the Chickasaw National Recreation Area, the Visitor Center serves a wide range of tourists, highlights local attractions and communicates the Chickasaw Nation’s connection to the area. The Chickasaw Visitor Center is an information hub and gateway to Chickasaw National Recreation Area, the only national park established at the request of a Native American tribe, the Chickasaws.
The 8,500 square-foot facility includes an information desk, two informational kiosks, a multi-purpose gallery, gift shop, media room, pergola style patio area, public restrooms, bike share program, penny press machine and complimentary coffee service. The retail portion of the Chickasaw Visitor Center carries Chickasaw Country souvenirs and apparel, local environment books and Chickasaw Press books, American Indian gift items and nature-related gift items. Works of art and photography by Native American artists are also on display at the facility, including a prominent wall sculpture by Chickasaw artist Paul Moore. Current exhibits showcased at the Visitor Center are lithographs by Chickasaw artist Tracie Tuck Davis and Southeastern pottery by Ben White.
